His name is Lu Huan. We learned about him on a PBS TV show today. It takes him usually several months to complete a sculpture. Some take years. He uses no paint...just the natural traits of the rock. He does not work from a photo because a photo is too flat. he goes and procures or buys the live specimen and studies it for a long time before he starts to sculpt. By the way, when he chooses aspecial rock, he spends much time studying it and contemplating it before he decides what to carve.
These carvings are superb representations of different species of reptiles, insects, and amphibians found in the animal kingdom.
